Changzhou is located in the south of Jiangsu Province, with a population of over 5.3 million. The city is blessed with a history of over 3,200 years and a highly developed economy. In 2022, the city has gained a GDP of 995.01 billion yuan. With its rich resources of cultural relics and nice environment, it is one of the most attractive cities in China for studying, living, investing and working.
Located between Nanjing (the provincial capital) and Shanghai (China’s financial center), Changzhou constitutes a metropolitan area with Suzhou and Wuxi, where you can enjoy convenient transportation. You can fly to over 30 major cities around the world from Changzhou Benniu International Airport. Changzhou has two railway stations, one in the city center and the other in the northern part of the city. It takes one hour to Shanghai and 5 hours to Beijing by high-speed trains. Metro line 1 and 2 are in operation which can quickly take you from the university to the railway stations and major shopping malls.
Set up as a public university in 1978, Changzhou University (CZU) is jointly funded by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and three biggest Chinese petrol corporations(CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC). It has also acquired generous support from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and the Municipal Government of Changzhou.
CZU has complete infrastructure and excellent facilities, having two campuses with an area of over 130 hectares. CZU is composed of 26 schools, with more than 27,000 full-time students, including over 650 international students. At present, CZU has 67 undergraduate programs, including 3 National Outstanding programs, 19 national first-class programs, 2 Pilot Bachelor’s programs funded by the Ministry of Education, and 12 programs accredited by China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA).
After 45 years of development, CZU has built a complete talent training system covering Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs with a multi-level scientific research and social service system. In 2022, CZU is ranked 158th on Best Chinese Universities Rankings (BCUR) released by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy and 163rd on the WuShulian Chinese University Ranking. CZU is a leading multidisciplinary university in Changzhou with a particular focus on engineering, science and management programs and has established strong links with business and governmental organizations. Three disciplines (Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering) are among world top 4‰ by the ESI.
CZU is very active in international cooperation and exchange and has established close relationships with more than 60 universities in over 30 countries and regions. CZU is one of the Target Universities in Jiangsu for International Students, as it has started to enroll international students since 2009. CZU has been accredited by the China Accreditation of Education for International Students and been awarded five times by Jiangsu Department of Education for its excellence in the education of international students. Besides, there is HSK Test Center in Changzhou University. In recent years, the number of international students has been increasing rapidly. In 2022, there are more than 650 international students of degree programs.
