Henan University CSC Scholarship 2027-28: Coverage, Deadline and Steps

Henan University (河南大学) is inviting international students to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship for postgraduate study in the 2027-2028 academic year. Master and PhD places are mostly Chinese-taught, with some English-taught programmes. The reported deadline is 17 January 2027, one of the earlier ones in this cycle.

What the scholarship covers

  • Tuition fees.
  • Free on-campus accommodation.
  • A monthly living allowance. The notice refers to an annex for the amount, so check the official document rather than relying on general CSC figures.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance for international students.
  • Funding lasts for the standard length of the degree: generally three years for a Master and four for a PhD. A preparatory Chinese year, generally one year, may apply where relevant. Extensions are generally not permitted.

Who can apply

  • You must not be a Chinese citizen, and you need good health.
  • Master applicants: a bachelor's degree, excellent academic performance and under 35 years old.
  • PhD applicants: a master's degree or higher, excellent academic performance and under 40 years old.
  • In principle you should be studying outside China, although outstanding final-year bachelor's and master's students may be recommended if they obtain their qualification on time.
  • Chinese-taught programmes: HSK Level 5 with at least 180 points. A degree from a Chinese university taught in Chinese is accepted instead.
  • English-taught programmes: IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 86, unless English is your native or an official language of your country.
  • You cannot hold another Chinese government or university scholarship at the same time, except one-time awards. If you apply through CSC to another university, do not also apply here.

Documents you need

  1. The full checklist is in the annexes of the official notice, which you should download from the university's scholarship page.
  2. Expect the standard CSC postgraduate set: application form, passport page, highest degree certificate, transcripts, language proof, study plan, recommendation letters, physical examination form and a police clearance certificate.
  3. Upload the same documents to both application systems. Online copies must match the originals.
  4. Make sure your passport name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, phone, email and contact person in China are entered correctly.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Download the official notice and annexes from the Henan University scholarship page.
  2. Submit your application in the CSC system and in the Henan University application system before the deadline.
  3. The School of International Education carries out a preliminary eligibility review.
  4. The relevant department assesses your academic record and may hold a remote interview or written test.
  5. The university recommends selected candidates to the China Scholarship Council.
  6. The council makes the final assessment. A university recommendation does not guarantee an award.
  7. Admission results and documents, including the Admission Notice and JW201 form, are expected by the end of July 2027.

Tips for Bangladeshi applicants

  • Aim to submit well before 17 January 2027. It is an early deadline, and Bangladeshi attestation, apostille and police clearance can take weeks.
  • Choose your programme's language carefully. Major, study duration and teaching language cannot be changed after admission.
  • If you plan an English-taught programme, check whether your previous degree qualifies for a language exemption, and book IELTS or TOEFL in time for the higher score requirement.
  • Keep your scores and the same passport details across both systems so your file is not flagged as inconsistent.
  • Compare this with other options in our China scholarships guide and check intakes and deadlines.
