Wenzhou University CSC Scholarship 2027: Deadline 31 December 2026

Wenzhou University (温州大学) is taking applications for the Chinese Government Scholarship at Master and PhD level, with the first university deadline reported as 31 December 2026. That is under two months from now, so start collecting documents today. Only candidates the university recommends go on to submit the CSC application.

What the scholarship covers

  • Full tuition waiver.
  • Free dormitory, or an accommodation subsidy.
  • A living allowance of CNY 3,000 a month for Master students and CNY 3,500 a month for PhD students.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance, listed at CNY 800 per person per year.
  • Funding runs for three years at Master level and four years at PhD level.

Who can apply

  • You must not be a Chinese citizen, and you need good physical and mental health.
  • Master applicants: a bachelor's degree, excellent academic performance and generally no older than 35.
  • PhD applicants: a master's degree, excellent academic performance and generally no older than 40. The English version says under 35 and under 40, so ask the university if you are at the limit.
  • You must also meet the requirements of your chosen school or college.
  • Chinese-taught programmes: HSK Level 5 with at least 180 points is the main requirement. The university may waive it for a degree taught in Chinese.
  • English-taught programmes: IELTS 6.0 or above, with TOEFL listed at 75 in the Chinese notice and 80 in the English one. Exemptions may apply for native speakers, citizens of English-speaking countries and previous English-medium study.
  • The notice contains some conflicting figures, such as HSK 4 and lower IELTS and TOEFL numbers, so confirm the exact standard with the university before booking a test.

Documents you need

  1. Passport information page, valid beyond September 2027.
  2. Academic and degree certificates from undergraduate level onward; final-year students need a pre-graduation certificate.
  3. Official transcripts from undergraduate level onward, stamped by your institution.
  4. Resume covering your continuous study and work history, using the university's template.
  5. Personal statement and study plan of at least 1,000 words or characters.
  6. Language certificate: HSK, IELTS, TOEFL or an approved medium-of-instruction certificate.
  7. Two signed recommendation letters from associate professors or higher, with valid contact details.
  8. Non-criminal record certificate, normally issued within six months before submission.
  9. Foreigner physical examination form in English, with results valid for six months.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Register and apply in the Wenzhou University application system, choosing the Chinese Government Scholarship program.
  2. The Overseas Students Education and Services office carries out a preliminary eligibility review.
  3. An evaluation committee assesses your academic materials.
  4. You take part in an interview or defence, which is combined with your document score.
  5. Recommended candidates receive a pre-admission notice.
  6. Those candidates then submit the CSC application: Program Category B, agency number 10351.
  7. CSC experts assess the files, and the university issues the official admission notice and JW201 form to successful applicants.

Tips for Bangladeshi applicants

  • Follow WZU's sequence: apply to the university first. Submitting only on the CSC portal is not the route described.
  • Documents notarised in Bangladesh and translated into English take time. Begin the apostille or attestation, police clearance and medical form immediately.
  • Ask the university in writing which language score applies to your programme, since the notice has inconsistent figures.
  • Check your graduation timing. The Chinese and English versions state different graduation dates, so confirm that your degree date qualifies.
  • Read our guides on CSC scholarships and admission requirements, and see the Wenzhou University profile.
