Yunnan Normal University CSC Scholarship 2027-28: Deadline and Steps

Yunnan Normal University (云南师范大学) in Kunming is taking applications for fully funded Master and PhD places under the Chinese Government Scholarship for the 2027-2028 academic year. Teaching is in Chinese, so you need HSK 5 unless you are exempt. The reported deadline is 28 February 2027; check it against the university's own notice.

What the scholarship covers

  • Full tuition waiver.
  • Free on-campus accommodation.
  • A monthly living allowance of CNY 3,000 for Master students and CNY 3,500 for PhD students.
  • Comprehensive medical insurance for international students.
  • You may receive funding from one scholarship programme only.

Who can apply

  • You must not be a Chinese citizen, and you need good health, good conduct, strong academic results and no criminal record.
  • Master applicants hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent and are 35 or under. PhD applicants hold a master's degree or equivalent and are 40 or under.
  • HSK Level 5 with at least 180 points, or a degree from a Chinese university taught in Chinese.
  • You must also meet the academic and language requirements of the programme you choose. Postgraduate programmes open to international applicants are eligible.
  • You should not hold other scholarship funding when you apply.

Documents you need

  1. CSC application form, completed online in Chinese or English.
  2. Passport information page, valid beyond September 2027, plus visa or residence permit if you are already in China.
  3. Notarised highest academic qualification, or a pre-graduation certificate if you are still studying.
  4. Transcripts from undergraduate study through the latest semester.
  5. Valid HSK score report, unless exempt.
  6. Pre-Admission Notice, issued after you pass the university's assessment.
  7. Research proposal of at least 2,000 words or characters for Master, or 4,000 for PhD; PhD proposals need the signature of the Chinese supervisor you contacted.
  8. Two recommendation letters from professors, with the recommender's name, institution, title and contact details.

Tips for Bangladeshi applicants

  • Because teaching is in Chinese, book your HSK 5 test early. Aim well above 180 so one weak section does not sink your file.
  • Contact a Chinese supervisor before you apply if you want a PhD place; the proposal needs their signature.
  • Documents not in Chinese or English need a notarised English translation. Plan for this when preparing Bangla-language certificates.
  • Arrive on time. The university says arriving more than two weeks late without a valid reason can lead to cancellation.
  • Compare funding and living costs with our China study cost guide and read how the student visa process works.
