Beihang University CSC Scholarship 2027: High-Level Postgraduate Guide

Beihang University (北京航空航天大学), widely known as BUAA, is accepting applications for the 2027 Chinese Government Scholarship High-Level Postgraduate Program, a full scholarship for international Master's and PhD applicants. Beihang reviews applications in three batches, with deadlines on 25 November 2026, 28 December 2026 and 22 January 2027.

What the scholarship covers

  • Full tuition for the standard study period.
  • A free room in a Beihang dormitory. If you arrange your own housing off campus, you get a monthly subsidy instead: CNY 700 for Master's students or CNY 1,000 for PhD students.
  • A monthly stipend of CNY 3,000 for Master's students and CNY 3,500 for PhD students.
  • Comprehensive medical and accident insurance. Flights to and from China are not covered.
  • Study periods are fixed: 2–3 years for a Master's (no extension) and 4 years for a PhD.

Who can apply

  • Citizens of any country other than China, in good physical and mental health.
  • Master's applicants need a bachelor's degree and must be under 35 when applying.
  • PhD applicants need a master's degree and must be under 40.
  • English-taught majors: IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL 90 or Duolingo 105, taken within the last two years. Beihang also suggests adding a GRE score if you have one.
  • Chinese-taught majors: HSK 5 with at least 180, taken within two years, unless your earlier degree was taught in Chinese at a Chinese university. With HSK 3 or 4 you can choose a one-year Chinese language course first, but you must reach HSK 5 (180) by the end of it.
  • Final-year students graduating before 1 July 2027 can apply with an expected-graduation certificate.
  • Graduates of QS or ARWU top-500 universities are especially welcome.

Documents you need

  1. The CSC scholarship application form, in Chinese or English, from the CSC portal.
  2. Passport photo page. The passport must stay valid beyond September 2027.
  3. Notarised copy of your highest degree, or an expected-graduation certificate from your current university.
  4. Transcripts for every semester from your bachelor's onward, issued and sealed by the registrar or graduate school.
  5. Your IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo or HSK report.
  6. An acceptance letter from a Beihang supervisor on Beihang's template, uploaded as the "Pre-admission Letter" in the CSC portal.
  7. A study plan of more than 1,000 words, in Chinese or English, signed by your supervisor.
  8. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.
  9. Optional: publications, awards, or a portfolio for art and design majors.
  10. A copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form in English, with blood test results, fully signed and stamped (valid six months).
  11. A police clearance certificate, normally issued within six months before you apply.
  12. Beihang's signed Integrity Commitment Letter.
  13. A gap-free CV from senior high school to today, plus stamped employment certificates if you have worked.
  14. Beihang's application document checklist, with your postal address confirmed.

Documents in other languages need notarised Chinese or English translations. Paper copies are not required.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Choose a major from Beihang's Master's or doctoral catalogue and contact potential supervisors. You need one supervisor's acceptance letter and signature on your study plan.
  2. Register on the CSC portal (studyinchina.csc.edu.cn), choose Program Category Type B and agency number 10006, and complete the form.
  3. Register on Beihang's online application system (admission.buaa.edu.cn) and upload the same documents. Your major must be identical in both systems and match your supervisor's field. A missing record in either system, or different files, makes the application invalid.
  4. Pay the non-refundable CNY 400 application fee (or USD 70) by bank transfer and upload the receipt, marked with your passport name and number. Review starts only after the fee arrives.
  5. Join the online preliminary and academic interviews on Zoom or Tencent Meeting when invited.
  6. Beihang nominates candidates to the CSC, whose experts make the final choice. Results and admission documents come through the CSC portal.

Beihang states that it has not appointed any intermediary to recruit for this scholarship and warns against paid services that promise results. You submit the application yourself, and only Beihang and the CSC decide.

Tips for Bangladeshi applicants

  • Aim for the first or second batch. Quotas are limited, so waiting for January leaves fewer places.
  • Email supervisors now with your CV, transcript and a one-page research idea that fits their work. Beihang publishes a supervisor list online.
  • Book the medical check-up and apply for police clearance early; both must be recent when you upload them.
  • Get your degree certificate notarised and ask your university for sealed transcripts covering every semester.
  • Ask your bank about an international transfer for the fee well before your batch deadline. Chinese banks use SWIFT codes, not IBAN, and Beihang refuses PayPal, WeChat, Alipay and cash. Our CSC scholarship guide and China student visa steps cover what comes next, and our Beihang University profile has more on the campus.

Frequently asked questions

What agency number do I use for Beihang?

Use 10006 with Program Category Type B in the CSC portal.

Do I need IELTS?

For English-taught majors Beihang lists IELTS Academic 6.0, TOEFL 90 or Duolingo 105, taken within two years. The notice does not mention a medium-of-instruction letter as a substitute, so plan for one of these tests.

Can I change my major or supervisor later?

No. Once Beihang recommends you, the major is fixed, and changing major or supervisor after admission can put the scholarship at risk.

Do I have to post paper documents?

No. Beihang accepts this application online only.
